Poll says that Jetstar has helped reduce airfares

Wednesday, 21 May, 2007 0

A recently released Galaxy Poll says that three in four Australians believe budget airline Jetstar has helped reduce airfares.

The survey of 1100 Aussies, which was commissioned by Jetstar, shows almost 75% believe the “Jetstar effect” has improved their perception of air travel and helped push down prices.

With Jetstar having commenced operations three years ago this week, more than a million people have flown for less than $50 one way.

Domestic competition is set to increase though with the introduction of Tiger Airways later this year and internationally with a number of low cost carriers launching services to Australia in particular from Asia.
