Quay Events Launch

Thursday, 25 Sep, 2006 0

Sixty people from the events industry met last week in the Sydney Harbour Marriot Hotel to attend the launch of Quay Events, a new partnership that will provide a one-stop shop for event and conference organisers seeking a unique Sydney venue, particularly for larger events.

The partnership is between the Sydney Harbour Marriot Hotel, the Museum of Contemporary Art and The Crystal Palace at Luna Park.  Event & Conference Organisers will be able to contact Quay Events (located within The Marriot), who will organise the appropriate venues, accommodation & catering as a package.

This arrangement is particularly suited for longer events or conferences with multiple sessions of varying sizes.  For example, a week long conference can use several venues during the week, with fabulous and differing views of the harbour.

Additionally, delegates are transferred by boat from Circular Quay to The Crystal Palace to further enhance the experience. Guests at the launch were shown that the distances to both the Museum of Contemporary Art and The Crystal Palace were not an issue and could in fact be turned into a real advantage.

Guests were taken across to The Crystal Palace via Matilda Cruises.  This trip could easily become a harbour lunch tour between individual breakouts and seminars. A number of exciting possibilities were discussed whilst enjoying the short boat trip.

Quay Events will be marketed as a single entity throughout the Asia Pacific area, offering unique harbour side venues for small and large conferences & events. A recent pharmaceutical product launch piloted the joint initiative, which was a resounding success.

Rather than each of the venues competing separately, it is anticipated that the partnership will greatly benefit all parties:

  1. The Marriott will now be able to offer the hotel for larger events and also be able to offer varied A List locations for longer conferences.
  2. The organisers will have a one-stop shop for harbour side conferences and accommodation, with less hassle and more flexibility.
  3. The Museum and Luna Park Venues will now be able to offer an accommodation component for conferences.

The overall result should be increased business for all, rather than increased competition between the venues and less business!
