Refuellers strike at Heathrow called off

Wednesday, 30 Apr, 2024 0

The upcoming airport strike by refuellers at Heathrow Airport has been called off.

They accepted a new and improved pay and conditions offer from employer AFS just days before the strike was due to start.

Unite union members at AFS had planned a 72-hour walkout from 4 May.

This could have grounded many flights.

AFS has a contract to refuel 35 airlines at Heathrow.

Following last minute negotiations, AFS has now improved the pension and sick leave offered to new workers.

“This is another victory for Unite in its campaign for members’ pay and conditions and workers at AFS should be congratulated for standing firm,” said Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said:

There is a separate ongoing airport strike at Heathrow involving hundreds of border force officers.
