Resort group Vidanta sets new course for luxury cruising
Mexico’s Grupo Vidanta has announced its entry into the world of luxury small ship cruising.
Its expansion from land to sea will kick off in late 2019 with the launch of the 298-passenger Vidanta Elegant.
The company acquired the ship in 2017 which offers 149 staterooms and suites, 11 bars and lounges, a full-service spa, and a top deck pool following an extensive refurbishment.
The ship was previously part of the All Leisure Group and was constructed in 1990.
"Vidanta is proud to bring a revolutionary new approach to cruising. We have built a legacy 45 years of luxury and personalized service offered by our resort vacations. Now we’re extending that legacy to the open sea," said Ivan Chavez, executive vice president of Grupo Vidanta.
Vidanta Cruises will sail itineraries that no other cruise line is offering, the comoany says. Full itinerary details will be announced in the near future.
Grupo Vidanta has a major presence in top destinations such as Riviera Maya, Los Cabos, and Puerto Vallarta across multiple resort brands including Grand Luxxe, The Grand Mayan, The Bliss, Mayan Palace, and Ocean Breeze.
