Return of Disney Magic is boost for Central Florida
Disney Cruise Line is adding to its Port Canaveral roster with a third ship for the 2014 season.
The recently refurbished Disney Magic will return to the port, alongside sister ships the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy.
According to a commissioned study by maritime consultancy firm Martin Associates, an extra 1,000 jobs will be generated.
"More ships home porting and calling at Port Canaveral is a win for everyone in Central Florida," said Port Canaveral CEO John E. Walsh.
The Disney Magic will run three and four-night cruises to the Bahamas starting at $300 for an inside cabin and during the fall, seven-night western Caribbean trips.
The line’s fourth ship, the Disney Wonder will be based at Port Miami in the spring, making it the first time ever that all Disney ships will be sailing out of Florida ports concurrently.
On the back of continued growth in cruise traffic, Canaveral Port Authority is pressing ahead with The Cove dining and retail development, having recently opened phase one, the seven-story Exploration Tower on the site.
