Royal Caribbean scraps entire summer season of Caribbean cruises

Royal Caribbean has abruptly canceled an entire season of cruises aboard the Freedom of the Seas ship for summer 2027.

It impacts thousands of booked guests due to sail next year on more than 20 voyages.

“As part of our ongoing itinerary planning process – which sometimes requires flexibility due to scheduling, port agreements, or operational needs, Freedom of the Seas will be redeployed for our summer 2027 season,” Royal Caribbean said.

Guests were informed this week and given various rebooking options.

“We know how much effort goes into planning your vacation and apologize for the inconvenience.”

The scrapped cruises are between May and September 2027 from Miami to the Bahamas and Caribbean ranging from four to nine nights.

Royal Caribbean has offered a range of alternative voyages to rebook, and guests are required to make a decision by April 1, 2026.

“If moving to a shorter sailing, your cruise fare will either be adjusted to the new cruise fare rate or prorated for the change in sailing nights, whichever option results in a lesser fare, and any overage will be refunded,” the emailed letter states.

Guests can rebook a different cruise but are liable for any difference in the fare, plus other fees.

Alternatively, guests can request a full refund.

Freedom Class ship is a 20-year-old ship accommodating nearly 4,000 guests.
