Ryanair eyes package holiday market entry
Ryanair boss Michael O’Leary is mooting a move into the package holiday market for the airline.
Speaking to the Telegraph, he said a package holidays brand is a possibility.
“I wouldn’t rule out setting up a holidays division. The holiday product is probably a reasonable way of charging higher fares and yields and for wrapping it into a package.”
This is despite inking a host of ‘Approved OTA’ deals with several travel platforms in recent months, which it would effectively be in competition with.
Its two main leisure airline rivals, Jet2 and easyJet, both have established package holiday brands.
O’Leary acknowledged package holidays have gained in popularity this summer.
“Accommodation in the Canaries, Spain, Italy, Greece, has been appreciably more expensive, and that has maybe pushed more people into these kinds of holiday packages,” he said.
