Second airport closed in Thailand
Media reports reveal that Bangkok has been completely cut off to air traffic after Thai authorities closed the capital’s main domestic airport following massive anti-government protests.
Bangkok International Airport was closed to all flights after it was stormed on Tuesday by protesters reportedly armed with stakes, baseball bats and, in one case, a samurai sword.
Serirat Prasutanont, chief of Thailand Airport Authority, said the domestic airport, Don Muang, was closed as a precaution because authorities feared protesters might harm passengers and planes.
He said authorities were considering diverting flights to an air force base outside Bangkok.
