Shanks, Esdale, Lighton and Hawke get new positions at Carnival UK
A series of senior-level appointments have been unveiled by Carnival UK following David Dingle being appointed CEO last week.
Carnival UK announced today new director roles following David Dingle’s appointment as chief executive officer.
Peter Shanks has been promoted from director of Princess Cruises and managing director of Ocean Village to chief commercial officer of Carnival UK, responsible for Cunard globally and Princess Cruises in the UK.
Carol Marlow, who continues in her current role as managing director and president of Cunard, will report to Shanks. Shanks retains his responsibilities for the UK commercial performance of Princess Cruises.
Nigel Esdale is promoted to from commercial director to managing director of P&O Cruises. He will have additionally reporting to him Neal Martin, hotel services and entertainment director of P&O Cruises.
Nick Lighton, previously Carnival UK fleet management director, becomes managing director of Ocean Village and also takes responsibility for all the air programmes of Carnival UK.
In addition, Giles Hawke becomes sales director of Carnival UK, remaining responsible for the Complete Cruise Solution, reporting to customer services director, Linda Scard.
All the appointments take effect immediately.
Dingle said: “We are growing the Carnival UK business rapidly as the focus of the cruise industry moves towards Europe. We are building two new ships for P&O Cruises, integrating the global operations of Cunard into the UK as well as introducing the new ocean liner Queen Victoria, and consolidating the recent expansion of Ocean Village.
“To achieve this we need a strong management structure and I am very pleased to have working with me such an accomplished and professional Carnival UK director team. I congratulate Nigel, Peter, Nick and Giles on their new roles.”
