Shapps wants Passenger Locator Form gone by Easter
Transport Secretary Grant Shapps wants to ditch the UK’s Passenger Locator Form (PLF) and hopes to see it axed by Easter.
Shapps is reportedly pushing for it to be scrapped.
Even though they have been somewhat simplified, Shapps and other officials have criticised it for being ‘ridiculously complicated.’
It runs to 20 pages for fully vaccinated travellers.
Currently, all arrivals must fill out the form 48 hours before their arrival.
It has also been derided as unnecessary by travel industry leaders.
Airlines, airports and tour operators have long called for it to be ditched.
The Department of Health has so far resisted the pressure.
The hope is that the form could be scrapped by early April, to ease formalities for the Easter holidays.
"If there is no requirement to self-isolate for those with Covid in the UK, there can be no justification for continuing with travel restrictions, including the continued use of the PLF," said Tim Alderslade, chief of Airlines UK.
