Former Crystal Cruises sales chief Philip Ordever has joined Canadian rail operator Rocky Mountaineer.

He takes the newly created London-based role of sales director for Europe as the company prepares to mark its 20th anniversary in 2010.

The position has been created to further expand the Western Canada company’s international reach in continental Europe, while maintaining strong business results from the UK – one of the company’s top producing markets.

Ordever will be responsible for Rocky Mountaineer sales in Europe including strategic management, contract negotiations and business development plans for key tour operators, wholesalers and travel agents.

He was most recently vice president, sales and marketing – Europe, Middle East and Africa for Crystal Cruises.

Prior to that, Ordever worked for Silversea Cruises, First Choice, Owners Abroad and International Leisure Group.
