SideStep adding cruise search option
SideStep Inc. on 17 January is adding searches for cruises.
The travel search engine so far allows searches on air, car, hotel and vacation package deals.
Users will be able after 17 January to search cruise lines by destination, line and length of cruise, say news reports.
Consumer demand apparently led to the move.
“With cruises, the state of the art has now come to the point where searching online for cruises has come to the same point where we are with air, car and hotels,” said John Robison, senior vice president of product development at SideStep based in Santa Clara, CA., told DNNews.
Despite that development, however, a vast majority of cruises are booked through travel agents, according to industry sources. The major reasons are the various details that are involved in booking cruises.
