Singapore Airlines partners with Maldives
Singapore Airlines has teamed up with the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation to jointly promote tourism and help increase visitor arrivals.
The two parties will jointly fund promotional activities such as roadshows, joint marketing campaigns and media and travel trade fam trips under the one-year agreement.
These initiatives will be targeted to markets in Australia, China, Japan, Singapore, South Korea and the US.
These markets make up 30% of all arrivals.
"This partnership enables us to play a more active role in promoting sustainable tourism growth to the country," said Singapore Airlines sales and marketing SVP.
Arrivals to Maldives increased by 6.8% in 2018 to 1.48 million.
SIA began flying to the Maldives 35 years ago and along with regional affiliate SilkAir offers 16 weekly flights to Male.
"I am very excited that Maldives and Singapore Airlines have embarked on a joint marketing venture for the very first time. This is a huge step forward for us in our effort to promote the destination," said Thoyyib Mohamed, MMPRC managing director.
