Six Flags park mandates chaperones at night
A Six Flags New Jersey theme park is the latest to impose an evening chaperone policy for minors.
Six Flags Great Adventure is mandating all guests 15 years of age and under must be accompanied by an adult aged at least 21 years old from 5pm.
It will take effect from Saturday, September 7.
Park management says it is a ‘proactive measure’ to stop ‘unruly and inappropriate behavior.’
The move has elicited very mixed views.
“I stopped going to your location because of the obnoxious behavior and I will say it’s not only the younger kids I find the adults to be a big concern too,” one former customer posted to the park’s Facebook page.
Chaperones and unaccompanied visitors will be asked for a photo ID to prove their age.
Chaperones will be able to accompany up to 10 guests under the age of 15.
Due to incidents often on weekends and holidays after dark, several theme parks have instituted similar rules to stop unruly and often violent incidents.
Other Six Flags theme parks have similar policies such as Six Flags New England and Six Flags Magic Mountain.
