South Korea offers visa exemption for China tour groups
South Korea is aiming to lure more Chinese visitors with visa free access.
Travellers on group tours organized by travel agencies will gain visa-free entry for a limited time starting later this year.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said as part of a tourism strategy shskeup, no visa is required for group tours from the third quarter.
Full details will be released next month.
Last year China extended visa-free entry in China to South Korea travellers for business, tourism and family visits.
“We will introduce in the third quarter a temporary visa waiver for group tourists from China to speed up the recovery,” said acting president Choi Sang-mok.
Last year, 16.4 million travellers visited South Korea, which is still slightly down from pre pandemic levels.
