Starwood appoints new Asia Pacific VP
Starwood Hotels & Resorts has appointed Charlie Dang as new regional vice president Southeast Asia.
Dang will lead strategic plans to grow the group’s brands across the region which includes Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines.
Latterly, Dang served as Starwood vice president of operations for Greater China.
Malaysian born Dang joined Starwood in 1993 and has served in a variety of management and operational roles in Malaysia and the Philippines before moving to China in 2000 to take over as general manager of Sheraton Xi’an Hotel.
Starwood has 20 hotels in the pipeline in Southeast Asia and will open six new properties this year including The Westin and Sheraton in Jakarta, two Four Points by Sheraton properties in Makassar and Surabaya, Indonesia, Le Méridien in Putrajaya, Malaysia and The St Regis in Langkawi, Malaysia.
