Summer strike warning issued for Glasgow Airport
A union is warning of possible strike action at Glasgow Airport this summer.
Unite says 800 workers from five different firms are in pay disputes with their employers.
It says possible strikes could ground planes and disrupt travel.
Disputes are ongoing with Glasgow Airport Ltd, ICTS Central Search, Swissport, Menzies Aviation and Falck
Unite says if these cannot be resolved quickly, workers at all the companies will be balloted on industrial action.
“We are in dialogue with Unite – the talks so far have been constructive and we remain focused on working together to address the issues being raised,” a Swissport spokesperson said.
Three of the companies have rejected pay deals ranging from 3.6% to 4.2%.
All the disputes have been going on for some time.
“All the companies are all highly profitable and can easily afford to give our members better pay and working conditions,’ said Unite general secretary Sharon Graham.
