Super Bowl fuels new Las Vegas Airport passenger record
Las Vegas Harry Reid Airport saw its busiest day ever following Super Bowl LVIII.
The airport handled almost 104,000 air travelers, with early morning flights extremely busy on Monday.
TSA officers screened a total of 103,978 passengers through the airport’s five security checkpoints across two terminals.
That beat the previous record set on Sunday, Oct. 29, 2023.
The big game brought in fans by the tens of thousands while there were other big events during the weekend.
This includes the LIV golf event and a Bruno mars concert.
Airport officials said an extra 75 TSA officers were drafted in from other airports to assist and the checkpoints were open for extended hours.
These measures seemed to have worked.
The airport says passengers were getting through security checks without any major delays.
“The highest recorded wait time to process through security at any time during the day was 12 minutes in standard screening and four minutes in TSA PreCheck,” it said.
The TSA also brought in an extra 60 sniffer dogs and their handlers to bolster security at the airport and at Allegiant Stadium.
