Thailand teams up with Agoda to speed up ASQ hotel packages
Thailand has streamlined the booking process for Alternative States Quarantine (ASQ) packages by partnering with booking platform Agoda.
Returning Thais and foreign travellers can now search and book ASQ hotels on a dedicated booking page.
They can check availability, and book in real-time.
ASQ hotels are those certified by Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health as suitable for quarantine stays.
Prior bookings are required before approval to enter Thailand is granted.
It includes properties in Bangkok, Chonburi, and Phuket.
"ASQ is an important mechanism that aims to benefit Thailand in two ways. The first factor is in the prevention and control of the spread of Covid-19, and the second is as a stimulus to help drive the economy by generating income," said Tares Krassanairawiwong, Director-General of the Department of Health Service Support.
John Brown, Chief Executive Officer, Agoda, said: "We strive to innovate and improve the travel experience every day, and technology is at the heart of everything we do, so we are thrilled to be part of this ground-breaking project here in Thailand."
