Top 10 cities for budget-minded travelers

Friday, 09 Oct, 2013 0

It should come as no surprise that Orlando is the top destination for budget-minded travelers. The city is rich in theme parks, travel deals, and inexpensive hotel options.

But some of the other cities on the Top 10 list released yesterday by HotelCoupons.com are less obvious — especially New York, which took the number-three spot.

"The pride of the Empire State is filled with world-famous attractions, bustling culture and some of the best food around," HotelCoupons notes, and from Central Park to Times Square, it offers exciting things to do 24 hours a day, many of them free.

The list of cities that were searched the most in 2013 by travelers "trying to find a vacation destination that won’t break the bank" includes Miami and Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Bangor, Maine; San Francisco and San Diego, California; Portland, Oregon; Las Vegas, Nevada; and Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Meanwhile, for those looking for affordable luxury, Hotwire.com posted a list of the cities with the most four-star hotels for less than $100 a night: Las Vegas, Atlanta, Dallas, Orlando, Minneapolis, St. Louis, Chicago, Detroit, Salt Lake City and Reno.
