Travel firms see immediate booking surge for France

Friday, Jan 14, 2022 0

There was an immediate spike in booking to France as borders reopened today for fully-jabbed UK holidaymakers.

Tour operators, ski specialists, and Eurostar reported an immediate surge in interest.

Chris Logan, MD of Crystal Ski said bookings have doubled, while Jet2 saw a ‘sharp and immediate’ increase in bookings to the Alps.

"Our customers are jumping at the chance to get back on the slopes. This is yet more great news for the travel industry," said Jet2 chief Steve Heapy.

Easyjet also saw bookings skyrocket.

"Following the announcement from the French government on lifting the ban on UK tourists, we have seen an initial lift in UK bookings over the coming weeks to our French destinations," it said.

"This will be a huge relief for customers with holidays booked for the next few weeks who have been waiting anxiously for news," ABTA said.

Eurostar said it will ‘continue to increase the frequency of our services in the coming weeks.’
