Travelodge scores with Wembley opening

Sunday, 12 Jan, 2006 0

Travelodge has opened its 13th hotel in London, with a property in Wembley.

The budget hotel company has taken a 25 year lease on the building that was previously the 168-bed Express by Holiday Inn hotel and transformed it to Wembley Travelodge over the weekend, without closing the hotel.

The move comes prior to the planned opening of the new Wembley stadium in May.

The chain’s development director Ben Roberts said: “Our highly competitive pricing structure and business model will enable us to make this hotel a success.

“We are the only UK budget hotel operator to have such an aggressive expansion programme and this move has increased the number of London Travelodge rooms to 2,000 – we added 500 rooms in the last year alone. 2006 will be a significant year for London given the opening of the new Wembley stadium.”

Room rates at the new hotel lead-in at £26 per room, per night.
