Travelodge switches off porn channels
LONDON: British hotel chain Travelodge is doing away with pay-per-view adult channels in order to make its facilities more family-friendly.
The budget hotel chain said its pay-per-view system is being scrapped in favour of 18 family-friendly stations free for viewing.
“We have an ever-increasing number of families staying with us and it’s appropriate that we remove adult TV,” Guy Parsons, chief operating officer for Travelodge, told The Sun newspaper.
“Our other customers tell us that they would prefer to use a hotel without adult content available so we have responded to meet their needs.”
The company told The Sun it believes the porn ban and a recent smoking ban will help the hotel attract more customers in the long run.
The family “leisure” segment now accounts for 70% of Travelodge custom, having doubled since 2003.
Travelodge said business travellers were mainly the ones who watched the X-rated channels.
