Turkish Airlines debuts in Sydney

Turkish Airlines has launched its longest ever flight with the addition of Sydney flights.

The flag carrier landed in Sydney this week marking its second destination in Australia.

It becomes Turkish Airlines’ 351st destination in its global network.

Flight between Istanbul and Sydney will be flown with the airline’s new Airbus A350-900 aircraft with 32 flatbed seats in business class, and 297 in economy.

Sydney flights will operate four times a week via Kuala Lumpur with a total flight duration of 19 hours.

Turkish Airlines launched flights to Melbourne in March this year.

Turkish Airlines says it marks a first step in future plans to introduce non-stop services from Sydney to Istanbul

Turkish Airlines CEO Bilal Ekºi said: “This marks Turkish Airlines’ longest flight path in history, as we happily add our second Australian city.”

“Once we receive aircraft capable of conducting the journey in a single leap, we look forward to Australia’s first non-stop flights to Istanbul.”

As well as boosting ties between Türkiye and Australia the new route will support nearly 300 jobs and generate an estimated A$53 million for the New South Wales visitor economy.
