Two dead, others missing after River Danube boat collision
Police in Hungary say two people died and five are missing after a Danube river collision with a cruise ship.
The crash only came to light when a man was found with a head wound by a roadside, 30 miles from Budapest.
He said he and others were in a collision with a river cruise vessel.
Police scoured the river and found two bodies but five remain missing.
They eventually found a damaged boat on the water and further up the river, a cruise ship named Heidelberg with damage to its hull.
This vessel was detained while crew were interviewed.
Budapest police said they have one person in custody suspected of endangering water transportation and negligence.
Based on the sole survivor’s account of the incident, they are continuing to scour the river for five more missing people.
