UK launch for Hotel upSell
Technology that enables hoteliers to automatically offer upgrades when travel agents book hotel rooms via Sabre has been introduced in the UK.
Hotel upSell covers more than 1,400 properties including those from Radisson, Country Inn and Suites, Omni, Fairmont, Copthorne, Best Western, Regent International, Park Plaza, Park Inns, WorldRes and Utell by Pegasus.
These properties have seen their revenue grow by an average of 13% on transactions that have been upsold by travel agents using the Hotel UpSell functionality in the US, Sabre claims.
Agents are able to offer customers higher-value products during the hotel booking process, thereby increasing commission payments. Hoteliers benefit by increased revenue through the sale of additional products and services, according to the GDS.
As an agent completes a hotel booking in Sabre, an upgrade message appears on the booking screen, prompting the agent to either accept or decline the upgrade.
Sabre Travel Network’s European vice-president of supplier relations and joint ventures Dean Bibb said: “We designed Hotel UpSell to benefit both our hotel suppliers and our travel agency customers. Hotel suppliers will benefit from additional revenue opportunities while travel agents have the ability to offer their customers a better service and earn incremental commissions.”
