Visiting Niagara Falls on International Waterfall Day

Wednesday, 21 May, 2024 0

International Waterfall Day is celebrated each year on June 16, and all eyes will turn to one of the most iconic – Niagara Falls.

This day marks the perfect opportunity to experience it in all its glory.

Niagara Falls State Park has been captivating visitors since its establishment in 1885, and travelers can can experience it every conceivable vantage point.

Activities include:

Maid of the Mist – Board the iconic, all-electric Maid of the Mist to experience Niagara Falls up close. During this boat tour, guests will be able to hear the roar of 600,000 gallons of water crashing down around them every second.

Cave of the Winds – Walk along the wooden stairs and pathways to the ‘Hurricane Deck’ to be within feet of the crashing Bridal Veil Falls.

Fireworks & Illumination of the Falls – Niagara Falls’ nightly illumination transforms it into a colorful spectacle for everyone to enjoy. The free fireworks display takes place every evening at 10pm through 14 October 2024.

Observation Tower – The Tower’s Observation Deck extends out over the Niagara Gorge and is the only place in the park to witness panoramic views of all three waterfalls—the Horseshoe, American, and Bridal Veil Falls at the same time. Guests can view the Falls from the top or go to the base of the gorge and climb a series of stairs to the Crow’s Nest, where the views come with complimentary air conditioning and blasts of misty Niagara spray.

Rainbow Air Helicopter Tours – Discover Niagara Falls on a Rainbow Air helicopter tour for a unique perspective.

There are many viewing areas within the park. Luna Island, a small area between the American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls offers close up views. Terrapin Point is perfect for sights of the thundering Horseshoe Falls, whilst Prospect Point is the prime viewing area for the American Falls and rapids, including the nightly illumination and seasonal fireworks.
