Walk Japan adds new wellness-culinary tour
Operator Walk Japan has unveiled a new wellness and culinary tour itinerary.
Onsen Gastronomy: Kiso in Nagano is the latest in a series of tours that pair onsen hot spring bathing with Japan’s regional cuisines.
This tour takes travellers to the Kiso Valley, Kaida Plateau and Ontake-san, an active volcano.
The Onsen Gastronomy: Kiso in Nagano tour is scheduled year-round.
Tour features:
Onsen hot spring bathing.
Top regional cuisine, including handmade soba and locally foraged mountain vegetables, and sake from boutique breweries
Walks through Edo-period towns including Kiso-Fukushima, Narai and Kiso-Hirasawa
Visits to shrines and pilgrimage paths leading to Ontake-san’s spiritual heritage.
Seasonal activities including an alpine cable car ride from spring through autumn and snowshoeing through woodlands in winter.
The trip is fully guided, lasting five days, four nights for a maximum of 12 guests.
It starts in Nagoya, finishing in Kiso-Fukushima and is available year-round.
- Prices from ¥380,000 (£1,910) per person, based on double occupancy.
Walk Japan was established more than 30 years ago and is independently owned and managed. It covers many less-travelled regions of Japan from Hokkaido in the far north to Okinawa in the south.
