Wildfires rage across California
Wildfires continue to sweep across California where over half a million people are being advised to leave their homes.
Residents in some parts of Los Angeles, Orange and San Diego are being evacuated as the fires continue to spread.
Visitors to the area are being advised to keep close watch on the situation by the UK Foreign Office.
“Phone lines to the San Diego area are all busy, and callers may experience difficulty in placing calls to the area,” it said.
Some US airlines, including United, United Express, and Ted Airlines, are waiving charges for changes on certain flights and airports.
In total, 11 airports are affected, including Los Angeles, San Diego and Palm Springs.
Three people have already died in the fires, which have also injured 38 people and destroyed nearly 2,000 homes. Nearly 70,000 further homes and businesses are under threat.
According to BBC reports, up to 300,000 acres have been scorched, an area bigger than New York City.
