Zagat Survey released its first-ever Family Travel Guide with Time Inc.’s Parenting.

Zagat says the guide has everything a parent needs to plan a UA vacation, with family-oriented museums and reviews for more than 1,000 sites and attractions, including amusement parks, ballparks, historic sites and monuments, national parks and zoos.

Highlights of its ratings:

• Disney swept five of the Top 10 Family Favorite categories.

• New York City edged out Orlando for Most Popular Attractions.

• Monterey Bay Aquarium, the National Air & Space Museum, the SBC Park in San Francisco and the St. Louis Zoo all topped their particular categories.

The top-rated water park was Discovery Cove in Orlando, while the highest-rated amusement park was Cedar Point in Sandusky, OH.

Other findings of the survey included families’ preference to stay in resort or large hotels, favored by 27%. Fifteen percent preferred smaller accommodations, while 15% liked budget accommodations. Only 4% preferred camping.

Air travel was strong in the survey, with 50% of surveyors saying they usually fly for a family vacation.
