Green tourism certification - the list unveiled

Free guide through the label jungle launched

Ecotrans, together with Friends of Nature International, Arbeitskreis Tourismus &Entwicklung and Tourism Watch have launched a new edition of the "Guide through the Label Jungle".

This guide aims to disseminate the relevant information to understand the functioning of the certification programmes, their verification procedure, transparency and their coverage of sustainability issues.

The "Guide through the Label Jungle" was created to help all tourism stakeholders, including tourists to get familiar with the world of labels in tourism.

There is a selection of 50 labels in the guide;  all 150 worldwide certificates are available online on the DestiNet: Standards & Certificates section

ECOTRANS works to promote sustainable & responsible tourism worldwide.

This year, the decade-old UN Type II partnership  formed by the EEA, UNEP, UNWTO and ECOTRANS completed its work to create the world's largest portal on sustainable tourism -known as the  DestiNet. Sustainable & Responsible Tourism Portal, bringing together all key global actors in tourism into one knowledge base, linked to the UNs overall Agenda 21 Sustainable Development Knowledge Base.

DestiNet has become the major gateway for certified SMEs and destinations to the global green market-place and international green economy.

If you are a certification programme, you can join the  certifiers section on DestiNet and give more visibility to your programme and your certified businesses. Certified businesses benefit from our strategic partnerships with booking portals and travel agencies. In addition, you will get your own folder, having the possibility to upload/download the information related to your certified businesses in a template, allowing you to update and publish your data base at any time.
