Trump Hotels pulls White House-themed merchandise following criticism

Donald Trump and his Trump Hotels company have been embroiled in more allegations that his business ventures are profiting from his presidency.

A new collection of Trump Hotels merchandise was launched last week depicting images of the White House, sparking more calls that the president is shamelessly profiteering from his position.

Dubbed the 'Cherry Blossom Collection', the items also show other political symbols such as the Lincoln Memorial and the Jefferson Memorial.

Now after a barrage of criticism, items depicting the White House have been quietly pulled.

They featured items such as t-shirts and mugs emblazoned with an image of the White House and bearing the Trump brand name or the Trump International Hotel.

It led to more accusations of ethics violations.

Walter Shaub, former director of the Office of Government Ethics, tweeted: "Our corrupt President's hotel, in which he retains a conflicting financial interest, is selling products with the image of the White House on it. I'd say he's monetizing the presidency again."

Items depicting other DC landmarks are still being offered for sale.
