Silversea Explorer Alaska cruise cancelled

Silversea has been forced to cut short a cruise on the Explorer after she ran into a fishing net in Alaska.

The current 11-day sailing is being cut short by five days and the next 11-day sailing on the 144-passenger ship has been cancelled.

The cruise line said all passengers affected, including around 14 Britons on the current sailing and 12 on the next sailing due to depart from Seward in Alaska on July 1, have been offered a full refund and future cruise credit.

The ship will go into dry dock for two weeks for repairs.
