Royal Caribbean confirms plans for first beach club

Royal Caribbean International will open its first beach club in Antigua in 2021.

It has signed a memorandum of understanding with the government of Antigua and Barbuda for a private club on a beachfront site near Fort James.

The concept will build on the Perfect Day private island experience in the Bahamas but offer different experiences, said Royal Caribbean.

"The Royal Beach Club Collection is an adventure we cannot wait to reveal to our guests. We are designing an experience that will bring more visitors and will create significant economic benefits and opportunities for local employment for years to come," said Michael Bayley, Royal Caribbean International president and CEO.

Few specifics have been revealed but it will offer local food and music, family activities and custom attractions, said RCCL.

It it also likely to include wave runners, paddle boarding, snorkelling, and a pool with a swim-up bar, it added.
