UK flight bookings to Latin America are down

Flight bookings from the UK to Latin America have fallen 1.2% in the past 12 months.

However, as the fall was less than the overall 1.6% decline in UK outbound flights during the same period, the Latin American Travel Association said this showed 'some resilience' for the Latin America market.

Overall, travel to the region grew 3.3% in the first three quarters of this year and forward bookings for the final quarter are 4% ahead of this time last year.

Bookings from the whole of Europe were up 2.1% to the end of September and they're running at 5% up year on year for the fourth quarter of 2019.

Arrivals from North America, which accounts for 43% of visitors to Latin America, were up 7% from January to September. Forward bookings for the fourth quarter are up 6%.

However, the data from global travel intelligence experts ForwardKeys also revealed that intra-Latin America travel was down 1.2% in the first nine months of the year and fourth quarter bookings are flat.
