Wizz Air steps up campaign to ban business class on short-haul flights

Wizz Air has stepped up its campaign to ban business class seats on short-haul flights with a call for action video.

The low-cost airline believes business class seats should be removed from flights under five hours claiming they account for twice the carbon footprint of an economy class seat.

CEO Jozsef Varadi said: "Wizz Air is devoted to sustainable aviation and we call out all fellow legacy airlines to conduct their business in a responsible way and stop flying empty seats on short haul.

"The industry as a whole needs to be more aggressive and ban business class on short haul flights. We at the same time call for all travellers to make a well-informed choice when booking a flight. The age of old school travel is over, just like business class."

  • Have you tried Wizz?

I sat on a Wizz economy seat for a two hour flight and it was agony.

  • What is Shorthaul

With respect to CEO of Wizz Air Jozsef Varadi. Short haul is a maximum flight time of 3 hrs. Anything longer in a cramped metal tube with ones legs stuck under your chin is pure torture. Three hours is pushing it. The perpetrature of the idea is must be short in the leg to even think about it. Sincerley Alec Popkin
