Next Ventura cruise cancelled after ship suffers engine failure

P&O Cruises has cancelled the next sailing on Ventura after the ship suffered engine failure at the weekend.

Ventura suffered loss of propulsion on Saturday evening after leaving Tenerife, bound for Arrecife. Two tug boats towed the ship back to Santa Cruz de Tenerife port.

The Arrecife call was cancelled as repairs were carried out. The ship is scheduled to leave tomorrow for Southampton.

P&O Cruises said: "Following a recent technical issue and maintenance on Ventura's current cruise, the ship's arrival into Southampton will be delayed..

"All guests on board have been advised and updated."

A spokesperson added: "Ventura is delayed in Tenerife due to unplanned maintenance and is returning to Southampton on Tuesday.

"Regrettably Friday's four night cruise is cancelled. We are so sorry for this disruption and disappointment."
