Former Thomas Cook staff receive thousands from fundraiser

A fundraising appeal for former Thomas Cook staff has raised more than £180,000 and the figure is still rising.

The appeal, set up by former CEO John Donaldson and former MD John McEwan, has already helped more than 1,000 people and has distributed £150,000 worth of vouchers.

The fundraising campaign is aligned and administered by the ABTA LifeLine charity, dedicated to supporting travel industry people in need.

No target was set for the appeal but McEwan said a 'six figure sum' would be a good start.

He said he was delighted to reach the £180,000 mark but added that more help was needed.

The campaign has targeted colleagues in the industry and former Thomas Cook colleagues who are now in employment elsewhere and can support those that have recently lost their jobs.
