Polka Dot Travel to open six new shops

Fast-growing agency chain Polka Dot Travel is set to open six shops in the next few months in the North West.

Shops are due to open in Birkenhead, St Helen's, Warrington, Prescott, Ormskirk and Wellington.

The group, which now has 18 stores, is aiming to grow its network to 30 by the end of 2020.

Last weekend the chain, founded in 2013 by Mark and Helen Johnson and Philippa Wilcox, opened a shop in Longton, staffed by former Thomas Cook agents.

The Longton shop replaced a Thomas Cook branch in the town, which shut when Thomas Cook collapsed in September.

Donna Jones, who previously managed the Thomas Cook store, set up a temporary pop-up shop to continue serving customers and got in touch with Polka Dot Travel to see if it could help.

Jones said since ithe new shop opened last weekend it has been inundated with all of the team's ex-Thomas Cook customers.

Posting to customers on the shop's Facebook page, Jones said: "My team in Longton asked Santa for a very special present this year..... A Brand New Shiny Shop, and boy has he delivered!"
