Coronavirus latest: FCO tightens advice as death toll reaches 81

The Foreign Office is working to get British nationals out of China's Hubai Province due to the coronavirus outbreak.

As the death toll reaches 81 people - 76 in the Hubai Province - the FCO has tightened its travel guidance to advise against all travel to Hubei Province and is telling Brits in the area to leave if they are able to do so.

Anyone requiring help should call +86 (0) 10 8529 6600 (24-hour) or the FCO (+44) (0)207 008 1500.

Meanwhile, the Chinese have extended their national new year holiday by three days in an attempt to contain the spread of the virus.

The Government has stopped workers in Shanghai returning work, except for in certain sectors.

Disney has closed its parks in Shanghai and Hong Kong and cruise lines, including MSC and Royal Caribbean, have cancelled cruises from Shanghai due to depart today and tomorrow.

British Airways, Singapore Airlines and other airlines are offering refunds and free changes to bookings for flights to and from mainland China.
