New bosses appointed at Iberia and Vueling

International Airlines Group (IAG) has named the next two people to head up its Iberia and Vueling subsidiaries.

The boss of Vueling, Javier Sanchez-Prieto, has been named new chairman and CEO of sister company Iberia.

He will be replaced at Vueling by Marco Sansavini, currently Iberia chief commercial officer.

Both men will take up their new roles in late March when IAG's chief executive Willie Walsh stands down and is replaced by Luis Gallego, currently Iberia chairman and chief executive.

Walsh said: "I'd like to congratulate Javier and Marco on their new roles and am absolutely confident that they are the right people to lead Iberia and Vueling.

"Both have worked in the Group for several years and have fantastic track records, proving once again that we have extremely talented people internally that we are able to promote to our top jobs."

Sanchez-Prieto has led Vueling for the past three years. Previously, he was strategic planning and finance director at Iberia between 2013-16 and before that, was Iberia Express' chief financial officer.

Sansavini has been with Iberia for seven years. Previously he worked in senior commercial and strategic roles in Alitalia and Air France-KLM.
