Virgin to re-launch Cape Town service

Virgin Atlantic is to re-launch a daily seasonal service between London Heathrow and Cape Town on October 25.

The route will be operated by a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner with economy, premium economy and business class.

Bookings for the new flights, which will operate only throughout the winter, will open on February 18.

British Airways has been the only airline to operate Heathrow to Cape Town flights since the collapse of Thomas Cook Airlines last September.

Virgin Atlantic previously flew from London to Cape Town but the service was axed in 2014 along with flights to Tokyo, Mumbai and Vancouver, however it flies between London and Johannesburg.

Virgin brought back the Mumbai service last October and launched flights from Heathrow to Tel Aviv in Israel last September. A new service from Heathrow to Sao Paulo in Brazil will launch in April.
