G Adventures extends tour suspensions

G Adventures has extended the suspension of its tours until June 30 but is not giving any refunds.

Instead it is giving customers a future travel credit valued at 110% of the price paid for the tour and any ancillary services including hotels, pre-paid optional activities, and transfers, but excluding airfare and insurance.

This travel credit will be automatically applied to customers' accounts within the coming weeks and can be applied toward any G Adventures tour departing up to two years from the end of the month of suspension.

The adventure specialist told customers: "Please do not call our contact centre asking for refunds, as these will not be provided."

Customers with tours set to depart outside the suspension window, who have yet to remit final payment, can cancel in accordance with the regular G Adventures terms and conditions and hold their Lifetime Deposit on file for use toward a future tour.

For those with flights booked with G Adventures, the company said: "We understand that many travellers may be anxious about flight options in this unprecedented time. We are receiving a large volume of requests so please be patient as we work to find solutions for all our travellers. We are working closely with airlines as their policies continue to evolve.

"Refund requests will not be looked at during this time. Travellers who have forward flights booked will be contacted in priority order. The team are prioritising urgent cases and are asking travellers for their patience for any delay in response time."

It added: "Currently, tours departing after June 30 are scheduled to run as planned. We still believe travel can be a force for good and as such we are choosing to leave the door open to the current situation changing in a way that means people can travel again.

"We understand some people may feel uncertain about their bookings for dates in the upcoming months, so we're offering travellers booked on tours departing up to and including September 30, 2020, the option to transfer their booking to a future date of the same trip for the same price. Alternatively, they can pay in full and receive a 110% travel credit."
