EasyJet to relaunch majority of routes by August

EasyJet has announced today that is will resume flying to almost 75% of its network by August.

It has also launched what it described as its 'biggest every summer sale' with over one million flights to sunspots across Europe from £29.99 for travel between July 1 and October 31.

The airline announced yesterday that it would allow free changes to flights within 14 days of travel for as long as travel restrictions remain.

EasyJet said it plans to fly half of its 1,022 routes in July and 75% in August, although it will operate only 30% of its normal July to September frequency.

It said this will include flying from all its UK bases in July and August to 'a wide selection of destinations'for summer holidays.

It said destinations will include domestic, city and beach including Paris, Milan and Rome, the Balearics and Canary Islands, Italy, Croatia, Portugal, Egypt and Morocco.

The Foreign Office is still advising against all non-essential travel indefinitely and from June 8 the UK will require all but key workers returning from holiday to self-quarantine for 14 days. Also, several countries, including Spain and Greece, have imposed travel restrictions on UK visitors.

However, the Italian Tourist Board confirmed today that it will allow British visitors from tomorrow with no quarantine restrictions. Flavio Zappacosta, manager for UK and Ireland said: "The tourism industry is one of Italy's key economy drivers so it is with utmost importance that we open for business as soon as it is safe to do so.

"We know how popular Italy is for Brits and hope we can inspire them to start to plan and book an Italian holiday this year."

EasyJet chief commercial and planning officer Robert Carey said: "We are delighted to announce that we will be flying the majority of our route network across Europe, meaning customers can still get to their chosen destination for their summer holidays this year.

"We're passionate about helping our customers get back flying, which is why we're offering one million seats at £29.99 for those planning on booking a holiday this summer. Travel restrictions are being lifted and demand is starting to return, so there's no better time for us to introduce this sale."

The airline has confirmed that some flights will initially resume from the June 15 including from London Gatwick, Bristol, Birmingham, Liverpool, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness and Belfast in the UK.
