Sabre cutting another 800 jobs

Sabre is cutting another 800 positions in a 'critical step' to restructure its business.

The cuts are in addition to the 400 jobs reduced through  voluntary severance and early retirement previously announced, and it will impact 43 offices worldwide.

It is part of a business reorganization which has been happening for more than two years and expects it to be mostly complete by the third quarter of 2020.

"We began this transformational journey over two years ago with the unveiling of our SabreNext strategy and the creation of our Travel Solutions organization. Our leadership team has completed plans to strategically realign and fully combine Sabre's airline and agency-focused businesses," said Sean Menke.

With the further downsizing, Sabre says existing furloughs will end by July 6, 2020 and will restore employee compensation back to 100% of base pay.

More details about the new Travel Solutions organization and leadership team restructuring will be announced next month.
