Three Carnival cruise brands were impacted in recent cyberattack

A recent cyberattack at Carnival Corp affected three of its cruise brands.

The August hack enabled access to personal information of guests, employees and crew of Carnival Cruise Line, Holland America Line and Seabourn, as well as the group's casino operations.

However the company maintains there is a 'low likelihood of the data being misused.'

Carnival released updates on the hack and says it is still investigating.

It contracted a major cybersecurity firm to investigate and notified law enforcement and various regulators.

Once discovered, it 'acted quickly to shut down the intrusion, restore operations and prevent further unauthorized access.'

The company is working to identify guests, employees and crew whose personal information may have been compromised and will contact them within the next 30 to 60 days.

Carnival has originally suspected only one cruise brand had been affected in the ransomware attack.

It posted notices at each of the brands' websites and has set up a dedicated call center to address any customer concerns.
