Strike action hits Jet2 flights to Greece

Jet2 air schedules to Greece are expected to be affected all day today following strike action by the country's air traffic control staff.

The 24-hour industrial action has forced the last minute cancellation of several flights, including services to Kos.

Customers took to Twitter to say they turned up at airports to discover today's flights were put back 24 hours.

Jet2 said today's flights had not been cancelled, just delayed.

A spokesperson said: "We are aware of the strike by Air Traffic Controllers in Greece which started earlier today. We are not cancelling flights, and affected flights that were due to operate today (15th October) will instead operate tomorrow (16th October).

"For customers due to depart back to the UK, our teams are already working hard to look after everyone affected and make sure they are provided with hotel accommodation and refreshments.

"We apologise to any customers inconvenienced by these strikes, which are completely beyond our control."
