Marriott teams up with ride sharing platform Grab

Southeast Asia ride sharing giant Grab has just signed its biggest partnership yet with a hospitality group.

It is teaming up with Marriott International in an integrated partnership across multiple verticals including food delivery, transport and advertising.

Starting next month, GrabFood will feature about 600 restaurants and bars from the Marriott  portfolio in six Southeast Asian markets, and customers can pay for dining through GrabPay at selected Marriott hotels.

Customers earn GrabRewards points for all purchases on the Grab platform, which in time, can be converted to Marriott Bonvoy points or vice versa.

"The breadth of our collaboration reflects our value as a platform of choice in supporting global brands on their digitalisation journey in the new normal," said Russell Cohen, Grab's Group Managing Director of Operations.

Staring early next year in Singapore, GrabPay can be used to pay for F&B purchases at participating hotels.

Two-way points transfer between the respective loyalty programs is expected to start from Q1 2021.

The various initiatives begin in Singapore next month and will then expand to  Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines.
