Air India launching new US routes

Air India is set to begin its longest ever nonstop route in early 2021.

It will launch the 14,000 km route from Bengaluru to San Francisco from 11 January.

Using Boeing B777-200 LR aircraft with 238 seats, it will operate twice a week and bookings are now open.

Flight time is 16 hours.

The new service is targeted at corporate travellers as it connects the world's top two tech hubs, the airline says.

"The first nonstop flight between Bengaluru and San Francisco is a significant milestone for Bangalore Airport and will transform it as the new gateway to India."

"This will tremendously help passengers - enabling faster and easier access to cities on the west coast of the US," AI said.

The airline also plans to launch Hyderabad-Chicago flights twice a week from early January 2021, subject to approvals.
