Thai Airways slashes international flight schedule

Thai Airways is drastically cutting its international schedules in response to strict travel restrictions across Thailand.

A reduced flight schedule will be in effect until 27 March, 2021 with most routes now restricted to one weekly round trip flight.

This includes Manila, Osaka, Seoul and Taipei in Asia, as well as Sydney, Frankfurt and London.

The Tokyo route will operate three times a week and once daily to Hong Kong.

Its domestic arm Thai Smile will operate as normal although several regions across Thailand are on virtual lockdown restricting all but essential travel between provinces.

Thai Airways' submission of its restructuring plan has been delayed but is expected next month.

To follow through with the plan, it needs approval from Thailand's bankruptcy court.

If granted, the airline plans to reduce costs by about 35% this year and downsize its fleet to 75 or fewer aircraft.
